Fuse Tower - the medieval defense of Kolobrzeg
The Fuse Tower is the only surviving relic of medieval fortifications in Kołobrzeg. The town received city rights in 1255 and began to develop dynamically. In the 14th century it was surrounded by defensive walls with towers. Unfortunately, the fortifications have not survived to our times. Only the Fuse Tower, erected on a rectangular plan, has preserved till today. It has 4 floors and a steep roof. Gothic embrasures and entrance door leading inside have been preserved in its walls. The tower was a key point of defence. In 1442, when the town came into conflict with the Church, it repelled an attack of the bishop's troops. Today it reminds of the former magnificence and wealth of Kołobrzeg.
