Dreżew manor - secrets of the neo-Gothic palace
Dreżewo is a small village located near Trzęsacz, whose history dates back to the 13th century. The most interesting building in the village is the neo-Gothic manor house, built in the second half of the 19th century by the then owner Eduard von Bonin.
Two remarkable stories are associated with this aristocrat and his family. The first is the legend of the passionate love affair between the young lord of the castle and the Spanish noblewoman Girona de Val Florida. Apparently, the girl only came to Dreżew for a short visit, but fell in love with the already engaged von Bonin. It was rumoured that the Spanish beauty would stop at nothing to win her beloved's heart. When his fiancée Angelica arrived at the castle, a fire broke out in which Girona was killed. Is it jealousy? Or just a coincidence? To this day, legends circulate that the ghost of a Spanish woman haunts the palace.
The second story is the Latin motto "In der Treue fest" on the façade of the court. It was the motto of the Bavarian rulers, later banned by the Nazis. Why did von Bonin put it on the palace? Was it not a sign of defiance against the Nazis? For the time being, it remains a mystery.
Surrounded by legends and unexplained historical riddles, the manor house in Dreżewo is a remarkable place for enthusiasts of the past of these lands. It is worth visiting these picturesque ruins to experience their unique and mysterious atmosphere.
