Cathedral with a viridian in Kamień Pomorski

The cathedral in Kamień Pomorski is one of the most valuable churches in Western Pomerania. Its construction began in the 12th century, after the seat of the bishopric was moved here from Wolin. Over the following centuries, work continued on expanding and beautifying the cathedral, which displays a variety of styles - from Romanesque to Late Gothic.
Most noteworthy are the Gothic features of the temple. The interior is decorated with cross-ribbed and star vaults, as well as unique polychromes. The entrance leads through a richly decorated Gothic portal.

One of the curiosities of Kamień Cathedral is the 14th century Gothic cemetery adjacent to the north. It is a complex of arcaded cloisters surrounding a square garden. It is a unique example of a medieval garden setting at the cathedral, generally located on the south side.
In the center is a Romanesque font dating back to the 12th century. The garden is divided by alleys into four square quarters. Many valuable specimens of trees grow here, including a pedunculate oak measuring 400 cm in circumference. The wall of the cathedral is overgrown with ivy.
The vestibule was restored after the war. Due to its exceptional historical value, access to it is limited. It is an unusual place, allowing you to feel the atmosphere of medieval sacred architecture in connection with nature.
